It is not a bad book as reference but is exactly the same book as "Encyclopedia of Roses" by the Royal Horticultural Society of England. It is just two different covers. It should have been mentioned somewhere so that I would have bought only one book because I have ended up buying both and there is not a single line difference in two books other than the cover page.It is also missing several roses so it is not necessarily a complete encyclopedia. I am from Australia and have several famous roses in my garden such as Fire Fighter, Neptune, Sight Saver, Aotearoa, Barbra Streisand, John Paul II, dior essence by delbard but they are not listed. The book also talks about delbard roses but doesn't list all delbard roses, I couldn't find one of their famous roses called "Chartreuse de Parme" and many more. So in summary, it is not a complete encyclopedia.

My husband has become an accidental gardener after I injured my knee this spring, and he's learning about roses, so this book is for him.
Looked up several roses that should have been in the book and weren't. So I was disappointed. But the info they do have is awesome, I just wish the roses I wanted info on, that should have been in there, wasn't.

The best Rose Encyclopedia I ever had. Lists most of Roses available ( at least in my Country, Argentina) with precise info. Very helpfull.
I have purchased numerous rose guides over the years and this is one of the best. Beautiful photos with useful and practical information, especially hardiness and growth habits. I would recommend this book to any serious gardener
It don't carry EVERY kind of rose ( its published in 02.. so it wont have any of the new hybrids made after then.. ) but its a great guide to roses, especially if you are looking to buy and want to know what you are getting . )
After checking this book out from the library I knew immediately I had to own it!
A great resource when trying to determine which roses best suit you and your growing conditions. Along the Gulf Coast, we face extended periods of heat, high rainfall and humidity. This plays an important factor when trying to select roses that will be both healthy and floriferous. Luckily, this resource provides insight into origin, parentage, bloom size/color, fragrance, height/width, hardiness, and points out those intolerant of the above mentioned factors. When speaking to groups regarding rose selection I now feel more confident with my recommendations. The information presented is brief and concise with a little rose history and trivia thrown in. The pictures are beautiful! It has become one of my favorite cross references, especially when buying roses for myself!!
